Garden Time
In Grade School

Springtime is in the air,
with a hint of cold air.
Winter is now in the past,
glad that it did not last.
Working in the Sunshine,
so glad for the Springtime.
As the world turns,
I will patiently learn.
Gardening is so much fun,
under the morning Sun.
This poem’s style is called Abecedarian, an ancient poetic form. The first letter of each line follows the alphabet in descending order.

All boys and girls, help when they can.
Because it makes their hearts smile.
Can you help someone when they need it?
Do you feel happy finding ways to help?

Everyone will tell their friends how you helped.
Friends will help you when it is your turn.
Good times will come your way.
Helping makes a happy place.

Inside many smiles are songs of joy.
Just one little smile adds a note.
Keep everyone around you happy.

Mom likes to see you smile.
